At St Anne’s we follow the Twinkl Phonics Scheme.

We teach Phonics every day… Sometimes we don’t even know we’re learning phonics!

There are lots of resources we use to help us:

We learn rhymes to help us to form our letters. You can learn them too here!

Level 1 phonics:

Level 1 phonics is so important!

You can learn all about what we learn here and the 7 aspects of Level 1 here.

Level 2 phonics:

We use sounds mats with pictures on, and learn actions for each sound.  We also learn songs for each sound and tricky words.

Level 3 phonics:

We use sounds mats with pictures on, and learn actions for each sound. We also learn songs for each sound and tricky words. You can learn the tricky word songs here and here.

Level 4 phonics:

In Level 4, we don’t learn any new sounds! Instead we use the sounds that we already know in different ways.  We learn lots of new tricky words too; you can hear the tricky words songs here and here.

Level 5 phonics:

We use sound mats with pictures on, and learn actions for each sound.

Level 6 phonics:

We think more about alternative spellings and use sound mats to help us.

In November we held a workshop for parents and carers. Lots of grown ups came to learn all about our Phonics:

We had some fantastic feedback!

We understand that not everyone could make it; please find the PowerPoint Slides here.

If you have any queries about Phonics, please speak to your child’s class teacher or Mrs Mirza in Reception.
