Dear Parents and Carers,
As we were not able to perform the Christmas Nativity for parents this year, we’ve recorded our production for you to enjoy at home.
The children have worked incredibly hard and enjoyed learning the songs. Due to the length of the performance it has had to be put on Youtube in two parts, each part is below:

Welcome to Year 1

This half-term we are covering a variety of topics
Science – Seasonal Changes – Autumn and Winter
Geography – Our Local Area
Music – Beat
Art – Capturing experiences with a range of media
Computing – Painting
P.E – Gymnastics
PSHCE – Meet the Go-Givers, Rules
We will be sharing and discussing a range of texts high-quality developing the children’s skills in writing narratives.
The children will be taught to write sentences about the story events. As well as this we will look at letter writing and key features of this style of text.
Children will learn to compose a sentence orally before writing it.
Please feel free to send in any books that are linked to our topic so that we can share them to develop our love of reading.
Religion
This half-term we will be studying:
- Family – Domestic Church
- Islam
- Hinduism
Reading
Your child has been given a reading day . A new book will be sent home once a week. Please can you help us to develop their love of reading by reading with your child at home every day and signing their Reading Record Book.
Spelling
We will have a spelling check every Friday. Each week the children will have new spellings to learn. These can be found on the Year 1 spelling page.
PE
PE is every Wednesday and Friday afternoon. Please ensure that your child has the correct kit every week.
