Nursery 2024 - 2025
Mrs Jarvis
Welcome to Nursery!
Hello parents & guardians
On this page you will find all the information you need about your child’s learning at Nursery. Daily updates will be given on our Classdojo page 🙂
Over the next half-term we are learning all about dinosaurs. We will be reading a variety of dino-stories and and a variety of learning in maths (see plan below)
Science – What was it like when dinosaurs lived
UTW – History of dinosaurs
Music – Nursery Rhymes
PSHE – Friends and showing empathy
Computing – Beebots
RE – Friendship
P.E – Dance
Below is a long term plan outlining the topics and learning we will be covering in Nursery over the academic year:
Curriculum, P.E and Homework
The children will assessed against the ‘Development Matters’ statements (3 to 4 years). Development Matters offers a top-level view of how children develop and learn for all early years practitioners, including: childminders. staff in nurseries. nursery schools. school nursery and reception classes in school. You can download a copy of these statements for all subject areas HERE (3-4 Objectvies in red)
P.E will take place every Tuesday morning.
Your child’s P.E kit should be as follows:
- Plain dark pumps/trainers.
- Plain blue/black shorts/jogging bottoms (weather dependent)
- Plain white T-shirt
- Your child may also wear their school jumper
Homework will be given out each Friday. This will include a home learning task to develop their number/letter formation & recognition, a reading book for them to develop their phonological awareness and a book to be shared with a parent to develop their love of books and stories. Any home reading can be shared with staff through the reading record also sent home. Once in the Summer term, some children may be sent home with weekly spellings. These are to be learnt for the following Friday.
If you have any queries or questions for the nursery staff please communicate these through the Classdojo messaging section and we will get back to you ASAP, alternately you can talk to a member of staff and drop off and pick up times at the nursery door.
Thank you for your continued support
