We have started a weekly #booktalk and the children have created their own display completely independently… If you could be a character from any story, who would you be and why?!
We had a very special visitor in school in school today. Poet Ian Bland joined us and we had a go at writing our own poems in his style. We were particularly impressed with this excellent poem by Malachy and Jack:

I’d like to be DJ,

So I could play some groovy tunes.

I’d like to be a werewolf,

So I could come out on full moons.

I’d like to be a footballer,

So I can play for Manchester City.

I’d like to be a model,

And always look so pretty.

I’d like to be a pilot,

So I could fly airplanes.

I’d like to be a doctor,

So I could laugh at people in pain!

I’d like to be a dentist,

To pull out people’s teeth.

I’d like to be a butcher,

To chop chunks of beef!

We had a wonderful time celebrating Roald Dahl day in Y5. We read lots of snippets of his books, designed magical potions inspired by George’s Marvellous Medicine, made remarkable plants for Willy Wonka’s Oompa Loompa Land, planted regurgitating vegatables inspired by James and the Giant Peach and created our own bully giants from The BFG.
