Activity 1

This link will take you to a website where you can test your knowledge of Year 3/4 spellings. We always used there in class, but in a few weeks, you’ll be off to Year 5 where you’ll have a brand new list of spellings! Click on the word document and follow the instructions to access the tests- it’s free and you don’t even need to register.

Instructions for spelling tests

Once you have had a go at a few of the spelling tests, I would like you to do the prefix/suffix activity below.

Monday 6th July literacy

Year 3 and 4 spelling list

Activity 2

Here is a poem and some comprehension questions to try. Read the poem through twice and then try the questions.

Questions Poetry

Send me your answers by email so I can see how you did 🙂

Activity 3

Here is a subordinating clause activity.

Subordinating Conjunctions

Remember subordinate clauses do not make sense on their own. Look at my example below- the subordinate clause is red- can you see how it doesn’t make sense on its own?

The children played in the garden because the sun was shining.

Activity 4

This activity asks you to look carefully at the picture and then follow the instructions for what sentences you need to write.

Sentence writing challenge

Activity 5

This is a really fun activity! Choose one of the debates and write me a letter to convince me to agree with you! Make sure you use some of the openers/sentence ideas on the persuasive writing mat below.
