Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope this letter finds you well and thank you for your continued support during the new year. Below is an outline of what Year 2 will be covering this half term:
Mathematics – We will be exploring and learning how to use statistics and expanding the children’s knowledge and application of the properties of shape. Year 2 will also be learning about fractions and will be measuring length and height.
RE – We will explore another religion and learn about Islam before focusing on Lent and Easter, Prayer, Holy Week.
Topic – In History we will be learning about Great Explorers.
Science – Our learning in science will focus on growing and caring for Plants.
Children will be given homework every Friday to be completed and in school by the following Thursday. If your child is unable to complete their homework at home, they can complete it at Homework Club with Mr Hoskin each Thursday lunchtime.
Please ensure your child is bringing in their reading book and reading diary to school daily. If they are reading at home please record this in their diary.
For this half term I would suggest the children leaving their PE kit in school each week. Children will need their P.E. kits every week with lessons on every Tuesday and alternating Mondays/Wednesdays. They MUST have the correct P.E. kit for outdoor games as well as gym/dance- a plain white t-shirt, black or blue shorts (or plain tracksuit bottoms and top when it gets colder).
If you have any questions about Year 2 please arrange to speak to Mr. Hoskin after school.
